What is a credit balance and how does it work?

Summary on how it works

A credit balance is money that belongs to you and stays safely on your Monis account.

Instead of issuing cash refunds, we turn eligible amounts into credits that are automatically used for your next rentals, so you never lose your money.

How it Works – Monis Credit Balance

Why does Monis use a credit balance?

Monis has a no-cash-refund policy.

To make sure this is still fair and flexible for you, we use a credit balance β€” automatic refunds for unused rental time are still rare in the rental industry, and Monis is among the first rental platforms to proactively credit unused time when plans change, instead of letting that value expire.

We issue credits when:

  • You return items early
  • You swap or downgrade items
  • You overpaid because of changes to your order

This way, your money stays with you and is reused automatically.

What can the credit balance be used for?

Your credit balance is automatically applied to:

  • Your next rental invoice
  • Any future subscriptions
  • Additional rentals you place later

πŸ‘‰ You don’t need to do anything. The system applies it for you.

How does the credit balance get applied?

  • Credits are automatically deducted from your next invoice
  • This happens before you pay
  • If the credit is bigger than the invoice, the remaining credit stays on your account

You will always see this clearly in your Monis dashboard.

How it Works – How Credit Balance is applied

Simple examples

Example 1: Single subscription

  • You pay $100/month
  • You return an item early and receive $30 credit
  • Your next invoice is $100
  • The $30 credit is applied automatically
  • You only pay $70
  • Credit balance becomes $0

Example 2: Multiple subscriptions

  • Subscription A: $50/month
  • Subscription B: $75/month
  • You have $60 credit

What happens:

  • $50 credit covers Subscription A completely
  • Remaining $10 credit reduces Subscription B to $65
  • You pay $65
  • Credit balance becomes $0

How it Works – How to Get Credit Balance

When do you receive credits?

Returns

If you return an item early, we credit the unused time.

Example:

  • $50/month item
  • Returned 15 days early
  • You receive $25 credit
  • That credit is used on your next invoice

Swaps & downgrades

If you swap to a cheaper item:

  • The unused value of the old item becomes a credit
  • The new item is charged normally
  • Any difference stays as credit for later

You don’t lose value.

Important things to know

  • Credits are not cash and can’t be withdrawn
  • Credits are only usable on Monis
  • Credits never expire
  • Credits are applied automatically
  • Credits cannot be used with external wallets (Apple Pay, etc.)

How can I see my credit balance?

  1. Log into your Monis account
  2. Go to:

πŸ‘‰ https://my.monis.rent/orders

  1. Your current credit (positive or negative) is shown at the top of the page
  2. You can also see all credit transactions in your order history

  • Your money is never lost
  • Credits are safe, automatic, and transparent
