How to Setup
1. Unpacking
- Remove the Xiaomi AC1200 WiFi Range Extender from the box.
- Plug the extender into a power socket near your existing WiFi router.
⚡ Requirements
- Existing WiFi router with internet access
- Mobile device with internet connection
- Mi Home app (Android/iOS)
2. Setting up
- Wait until the LED indicator starts blinking orange – this means the extender is ready to pair.
- Download the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app from the App Store or Google Play on your phone or tablet.
- Open the app, log in or create a Xiaomi account, and tap the "+" symbol to add a device.
- The app should automatically detect the extender. If not, search manually for “Mi WiFi Range Extender AC1200”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions:
- Select your existing WiFi network.
- Enter your WiFi password.
- Wait for the configuration to complete. Once finished, the LED will turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection.
- Unplug the extender and move it to a spot halfway between your router and the area with weak WiFi signal.
- Plug it in at the new location and wait for the LED to turn solid blue again.
LED Indicator Guide
- Blue (solid): Connected successfully and working properly.
- Orange (blinking): Ready to pair.
- Orange (solid): Weak signal – try moving the extender closer to the router.
Troubleshooting
- No internet after setup?
Double-check the WiFi password you entered during setup and ensure your main router has an active internet connection.
- LED stays orange?
Move the extender closer to your router for a stronger signal.
- Reset the extender:
Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the reset button (small pinhole) on the extender for ~5 seconds until the LED starts blinking orange again.
Important Notes
- Placement: For best performance, place the extender roughly halfway between your router and the area where you need better WiFi coverage.
- Power: Keep the extender plugged into a stable power source at all times for uninterrupted connectivity.
- Do not modify: Avoid changing advanced settings unless you know what you’re doing, as incorrect settings can disrupt your WiFi network.
