WiFi Range Extender setup guide

How to Setup

1. Unpacking

  • Remove the Xiaomi AC1200 WiFi Range Extender from the box.
  • Plug the extender into a power socket near your existing WiFi router.

⚡ Requirements
  • Existing WiFi router with internet access
  • Mobile device with internet connection
  • Mi Home app (Android/iOS)

2. Setting up

  • Wait until the LED indicator starts blinking orange – this means the extender is ready to pair.
  • Download the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app from the App Store or Google Play on your phone or tablet.
  • Open the app, log in or create a Xiaomi account, and tap the "+" symbol to add a device.
  • The app should automatically detect the extender. If not, search manually for “Mi WiFi Range Extender AC1200”.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions:
    • Select your existing WiFi network.
    • Enter your WiFi password.
  • Wait for the configuration to complete. Once finished, the LED will turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection.
  • Unplug the extender and move it to a spot halfway between your router and the area with weak WiFi signal.
  • Plug it in at the new location and wait for the LED to turn solid blue again.

LED Indicator Guide

  • Blue (solid): Connected successfully and working properly.
  • Orange (blinking): Ready to pair.
  • Orange (solid): Weak signal – try moving the extender closer to the router.

Troubleshooting

  • No internet after setup?

Double-check the WiFi password you entered during setup and ensure your main router has an active internet connection.

  • LED stays orange?

Move the extender closer to your router for a stronger signal.

  • Reset the extender:

Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the reset button (small pinhole) on the extender for ~5 seconds until the LED starts blinking orange again.

Important Notes

  • Placement: For best performance, place the extender roughly halfway between your router and the area where you need better WiFi coverage.
  • Power: Keep the extender plugged into a stable power source at all times for uninterrupted connectivity.
  • Do not modify: Avoid changing advanced settings unless you know what you’re doing, as incorrect settings can disrupt your WiFi network.
