Weber Traveler Gas Grill BBQ Setup Guide

Important: The grill must always be used outdoors. Never use it inside a house, apartment, tent, enclosed balcony, or any other enclosed space.

1. Before You Start

Before using the grill, please check the following:

  • Place the grill on a stable, level, non-flammable surface outdoors.
  • Keep the grill away from walls, furniture, plants, curtains, and other flammable materials.
  • Ensure children and pets stay away from the grill while it is hot.
  • Check that the grill, gas hose, connectors, and seals are in good condition.
  • Make sure all burner control knobs are switched OFF before connecting the gas.
  • Keep the grill away from strong wind and never leave it unattended while operating.

Never use the grill if you notice damaged parts, a strong gas smell, or a suspected gas leak.

2. Connecting the Gas Canister

The Weber Traveler uses a compatible gas supply. Depending on the supplied model and configuration, this may be a small screw-on gas cartridge or a gas cylinder with the appropriate regulator.
Only use the gas canister and connection system supplied with, or approved for, your specific grill. Do not force incompatible connections or use improvised adapters.

Step-by-step connection

  1. Make sure all burner control knobs are switched OFF.
  2. Ensure the grill is cool and positioned outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
  3. Inspect the gas canister, connector, seals, and hose for damage.
  4. Align the gas canister with the grill's designated connector.
  5. Connect it according to the instructions for the supplied gas system. For a screw-on cartridge, tighten gently by hand without cross-threading or overtightening.
  6. Ensure the connection is secure and the hose is not twisted, kinked, or touching hot surfaces.
  7. Check for gas leaks before lighting the grill, following the leak-testing instructions in the manufacturer's manual.

Gas leak warning: Never check for leaks using a flame. If you hear hissing or smell gas, do not ignite the grill or operate electrical switches nearby. Shut off the gas supply if it is safe to do so, move away from the area, and contact support.
Never refill, puncture, heat, or burn a disposable gas cartridge.

3. Lighting the Grill

Once the gas connection has been checked and confirmed safe:

  1. Open the grill lid.
  2. Follow the ignition instructions for your specific Weber Traveler model.
  3. Ignite the burner using the designated control and ignition system.
  4. Once the burner is lit, adjust the heat using the control knob.
  5. Allow the grill to preheat before placing food on the cooking grate.

Important safety rules:

  • Always open the lid before igniting the grill.
  • Never lean over the grill when lighting it.
  • If the burner does not ignite, switch the control OFF, shut off the gas supply, and wait at least five minutes before attempting to relight it, provided there is no gas leak.
  • Never attempt to light the grill if you smell gas.

4. During Use

To keep the grill in good condition throughout your rental:

  • Never leave the grill unattended while it is operating.
  • Keep the lid open or closed as appropriate for the cooking process, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Do not touch the cooking grate, lid, or other hot surfaces with bare hands.
  • Use suitable BBQ tools to handle food.
  • Avoid excessive grease buildup, which can cause flare-ups.
  • Never move or fold the grill while it is hot or connected to the gas supply.
  • Keep the gas canister away from direct heat and follow the manufacturer's instructions for its positioning.
  • Do not modify the grill or attempt repairs yourself.

If a grease fire occurs, turn off the burners and gas supply if safe to do so. Keep the lid closed if appropriate to help contain the fire. Never use water on a grease fire. If the fire cannot be controlled safely, move away and call emergency services.

5. Turning Off the Grill

After cooking:

  1. Turn all burner control knobs to OFF.
  2. Shut off the gas supply according to the instructions for your gas connection.
  3. Allow the grill to cool completely before handling, cleaning, disconnecting, or folding it.
  4. Keep the grill outdoors while it cools.

Always shut off the gas supply after every use.

6. Cleaning the Grill Before Return

Important: The grill must be returned in the same clean condition in which it was delivered.
Please clean the grill before your scheduled pickup. Additional cleaning may be required if the product is returned excessively dirty.
